Recharge and be ready to face the world

We all know that taking care of ourselves is important, not just for us, but for those around us too.  But let’s face it, there’s kind of a lot going on right now and it’s pretty easy to let prioritising ourselves fall by the wayside.

With that in mind, we’re about to launch our new self-care bundle, as well as this blog – with our top tips on self-care for busy, 21st century, having-it-all women – to make it just that little bit easier for you to take a quick bite of “me-time”, relax, re-charge and be ready to face the world (yes, even in the state it’s currently in) again tomorrow.

Let’s start easy…

Although – seriously no judgement from us if this is not easy, times are truly tough…

Wash your face and brush your teeth, put on some clean clothes and nice undies and have a big glass of water.  It’s amazing the difference these simple acts can make, especially if you legit have not had time because you’re chasing toddlers around the house, or working crazy hours because “work from home” has somehow turned into “live at work”.

If you’ve already flossed, donned matching lingerie and cleansed and moisturised…

Well done, you’re doing better than us tbh – maybe you should be the one giving us advice.

But also – let’s move onto something a little more… advanced.

Try to carve out some time that is dedicated to self-care.

Even if it’s just half an hour on a Tuesday afternoon, or the hour between 6-7am before your kids get up on Sunday – put it in your diary as a cannot-be-missed priority.

Then – move onto the fun part!  Plan what you’re going to do with your time!

Some of our favourite me-time activities:

Practice some Mindfulness – whether it be meditation, journaling, stretching or just lying down and breathing deeply, try to give you brain a break and let it run free, unhindered and uninhibited, like a naked toddler trying to avoid bath time.  You will be surprised by how refreshing this can be!  Total brain reset.

Read a book – not the Booker Prize winner you leave on your bedside table to look intellectual in case anyone’s snooping – something you actually enjoy reading – whether it’s YA fiction, epic fantasy, John Grisham or a classic Mills & Boon.  Take the time to lose yourself in a fictional universe so you can come back to the real world feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Read the top picks from Celeste and Sarah – our guest book pick contributors.

Call a friend for a goss – When is the last time you *gasp* CALLED someone on the phone just for a chat?  Do you remember how much time we used to spend on the phone as teenagers?  It was awesome, right?  So pour yourself a glass of wine, call someone up and just chat, about nothing important, your celebrity crush, what happened last night on MAFs.  Have a giggle, forget about real life for a minute and pretend you’re fifteen again.

Take a bath – pour yourself a glass of wine (yes even on a Sunday morning – Rosé is brunch wine after all), light a candle, dim the lights, put on some tunes and run yourself a scalding hot bath.  Bliss out properly with our floral bath tea bag, lay back and imagine that you’re in a secluded country cottage and your neighbour, the local fireman drops by to borrow a cup of sugar… what happens next is all you boo.

Whatever it is you decide to do, the most important thing is that it’s something just for you!  Switch of the screens, slow down and appreciate a little me-time.  Believe us, it’s more important now than it’s ever been.
