The crowd favourite
Our crowd favourite, the red wine that is enjoyed by many. In fact its the fourth highest selling pinot noir in Victoria. Why? Because it’s so versatile, matches to most wine tastes and to most meals. No need to buy three different wines to match with the salmon, pasta or lamb when out to dinner!
When 6Ft6 launched in 2003, its mission was to provide an incredible value pinot noir for its quality, allowing more people to enjoy good quality wine at an accessible price point and that philosophy still drives us today. We’ve answered all your pinot noir questions in this blog post.
2021 Pinot Noir Tasting Note
A graceful and elegant cool climate Pinot Noir, something perfect for all occasions. Raspberries, Strawberries, and Plums are seen aromatically, along with a hint of spice on the nose. The tannins are soft and supple, which really add roundness and support the fruit weight. This is a delightful, easy drinking, cool climate Pinot that shows purity of fruit and will keep you wanting more!
Why 6Ft6 pinot noir?
- Terroir (Terroir means soil, topography, and climate) We are very fortunate that our vineyard in Geelong provides us with great consistency of flavour and style ensuring our loyal customers know what to expect year to year.
- Quality control Our 6Ft6 pinot noir is single vineyard, which in layman’s terms means we don’t purchase grapes from other properties, allowing greater quality control over our wine.
- The fruit 6Ft6 Pinot Noir consists of a variety of clones and having this vast variety makes the wine, well-balanced and easy to drink.
- Enjoyment Over the years, we have found that people react well to our fun/quirky and non-traditional approach to wine, and although we respect traditional wine-making and the techniques and expertise that is required to make exceptional wine, we try not to take ourselves too seriously

The Moorabool Valley
The Moorabool Valley is continental in nature, close to the Southern Ocean and dry in summer. This unique cool climate gives our wines full ripeness and beautiful finesse. We have 90 acres of pinot noir which include seven different pinot noir clones, each bringing a unique flavour. When combined they produce a well-rounded wine with great depth of flavour, good structure, balance and aromatic richness.
With a later flowering in 2019 due to a cooler than average spring, the 2020 vintage was always going to be slow to start. The poor flowering conditions also contributed to a lower number of bunches and smaller berries. This held true throughout the season, with low yields that were spread throughout all varieties. Preventative action in the vineyard really helped us protect our crop. The overall result is a really low yielding year. ‘Quality over quanitiy’ sums up vintage 2020, the quality of the fruit and wine is exceptional.
Made to drink and enjoy, we recommend 10 minutes in the fridge before opening on a hot summer day or serve at room temperature all year round. Our top food pairings would be grilled salmon in a Beurre Blanc Sauce with Sweet Potato Chips and a crisp Iceberg salad. A duck salad with rocket and pear is a refreshing change on the classic duck and pinot pairing. A mushroom and thyme pizza is our go-to veg match.
Serve with a semi-hard cheese such as the L’Artisan washed rind or the Fermier.
It’s young but great drop to share with family and friends. Will add this to my wine fridge
